Prepare for Grade XI: Navigate course choices, gather transcripts, and research extracurriculars. Set yourself up for success before school starts!

With the start of a new academic year, students are faced with a slew of new responsibilities and challenges. However, after spending a few weeks away from school and relaxing during the holidays, they find it difficult to return to the monotonous schedule. Preparing for a new school year can be overwhelming and intimidating, regardless of whether they spent their post-exam vacation relaxing or working. As a result, it is critical to approach the new school year with a well-planned strategy and a positive attitude.
Here are five pointers to help you prepare for the new academic year and achieve excellent grades this year. Consider the following points:
1. Review whatever you learned in your previous classes.
Every new class is a continuation of the previous one, as you are all aware. This year, you'd be studying the same topics and terms in greater depth and breadth. So, in the new class, you would be expected to recall what you learned last year in order to prepare your mind for mental work. You probably won't remember everything, but a quick refresher will get your mind ready for studying and make the first few weeks go more smoothly.
For example, the topic 'mole concept,' which is introduced at its most fundamental level in CBSE class 9 with definitions and simple formulas to calculate it, is revisited in CBSE class 11 as part of the Chemistry curriculum.
2. Go through the course guide and school curriculum in advance.
Examine the course guide for the subjects you will be studying in the new class before the start of the new semester. This will give you an idea of what learning materials, such as core books and any reference books (if needed), you will need in the new session, allowing you to plan ahead of time. You can also look through the materials available online for this purpose. In addition, going over the course curriculum will outline the topics and learning areas that you will need to cover throughout the year.
3. Gather knowledge of new concepts.
After you have finished reading the course guide, the next important step is to review all subjects and their syllabus. It will assist you in quickly grasping the topics covered in class. This will also allow you to get a head start on the content you will cover throughout the year. Examine the first few chapters of the subjects so that you can be spontaneous in front of the teacher and make a lasting impression.
4. Make e-learning your friend.
To improve learning outcomes, you must be involved in what you are doing. Students today have the best option in the form of e-learning, which has grown in popularity during this pandemic period. So, as the new academic year begins, you can navigate through various education sites, online books, videos, and study materials to expand your knowledge before the new class begins. Refer to websites for the most reliable, relevant, and accurate study material to help you excel in your exams.
5. Practise effective time management.
Though it is too early to begin working on time management because you will have no idea which subjects will take up the most time and which will be comparatively easier and less time-consuming. However, you can create a time chart ahead of time to separate your study schedule from other activities such as playing video games and watching television. Even before you begin attending the new class, try to incorporate the same schedule into your routine. This will assist you in adapting to the structured routine so that you do not find it difficult to stick to the same when you begin attending new classes.
For instance, if your school day ends at 4 p.m., you must plan the time between 4 p.m. and dinner to include all necessary activities such as tuition classes, homework, sports, watching TV, and so on. Which activity you want to devote more or less time to is entirely up to you.
Thus, planning ahead of the start of the new academic year can improve your performance and help you achieve success.
